Susan Shelley

Susan Shelley is Vice President of Communications for the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (HJTA), the most influential taxpayer advocacy group in California. HJTA is dedicated to the advancement of taxpayer’s rights, including the right to limited taxation, the right to vote on tax increases, and the right to economical, equitable, and efficient use of taxpayer’s dollars.
Howard Jarvis and his wife Estelle were tax revolt leaders. They founded HJTA in the 1970’s with Proposition 13. Their political watchdog work continues today. HJTA President Jon Coupal wrote “Lawlessness and abandonment of the rule of law are not just taking place in the realm of criminal law. The same is true for civil law, especially when it comes to taxpayer protections in the California Constitution.”
Susan Shelley is working various important issues, including “Repeal the Death Tax” - an initiative sponsored by HJTA which is heading for the November ballot. This will undo some of the bad provisions tucked into Proposition 19 which passed in 2020.
A columnist and an editorial writer for the Southern California News Group, eleven daily papers including the Orange County Register and the L.A. Daily News, Susan Shelley is a frequent guest on radio and television. Susan co-hosts the Howard Jarvis Podcast for KABC.
California is the highest taxed state in the country. Californians are fleeing to lower tax, business friendly, red states. Susan will talk about the importance of civil law with regard to California taxpayers.
If you are tired of woke Sacramento politicians finding endless machinations to take money away from California taxpayers, you will not want to miss Shelley’s presentation.
Please plan to attend and bring a friend.
Darlene Casella, Vice President

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Do you know why some people, whether they are Irish or not, wear green on St. Patrick's Day? One possibility is that it is one of the colors of the Irish national flag! Very patriotic! But another reason is that some stalwart Irishman thought that by wearing the color green one might become invisible to leprechauns, you know -- those little fairy-like creatures who went around pinching anyone they could see. As many merrymakers around the world began to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, some of them also began pinching anyone they saw who was not wearing green; thus, the color green became fashionable to wear on March 17.
Patricia Pyle,
President

Lamentable Death of Two Prominent Republicans
Don Dix, a political activist, passed away on February 22 nd ; after struggling for months with ulcerative colitis. He was 64 years old. Family and friends are devastated at his unexpected passing.
Don was Chairman of the Riverside County Republican Central Committee. He co-hosted the Jen and Don Show on AM 590 The Answer, a conservative talk show. He founded annual Unite Inland Empire Conservative Conferences featuring presidential candidates and prominent conservatives.
Dix was always bent on making California a better place. Perpetually generous with his time, Don spoke to RMRWF several times over the years. Those that loved him mourn, but are forever thankful that he was.

Larry Greenfield passed away on January 28 th at the age of 59. He served on the Executive Committee of the California Republican party, was active with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, the Founding Executive Director of the Reagan Legacy Foundation and the National Executive Director of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs. He was a Fellow at the Claremont Institute. Larry earned a Juris Doctorate at Georgetown, he assisted in Yasser Arafat’s arrest warrant, and served in the United States Naval Intelligence Reserves.
A frequent speaker at RMRWF over the years, Larry was known for his command of the facts, with humorous, and friendly presentations. His expertise included U.S. Foreign Policy, missile defense, and the Arab-Israel conflict. Dennis Prager was a lifetime friend, and said Larry was always a joy to be around. Some years ago Larry donated a kidney to a friend without being asked. He did it because it was the right thing to do. He said “I have two, you can have one.” As we mourn his passing, may he Rest in Peace.
