With Guest Speaker

Chris Harris

This is not a photo of Chris Harris, who is younger and more handsome.

Christopher Harris is the Secretary/Director of Legislative and Political Affairs for the National Border Patrol Council.  United States Border patrol is a law enforcement arm of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  Border Patrol is one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the country.  Last year Congress enacted a budget of more than $3 Billion for Border Patrol.
Mounted Watchmen began border patrol in 1904; to prevent illegal crossings.  U.S. Army soldiers from time to time perform border patrol along the southwest border.  Texas Rangers have also been assigned to patrol duties.

Border Patrol agents that are fluent in Spanish spend 13 weeks at the Border Patrol Academy in New Mexico, which is a component of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.  Those not fluent in Spanish spend an additional eight weeks at the Academy for a total of 21 weeks.

Border Patrol Agent Trainees are instructed in criminal law, nationality law, and administrative immigration law, police sciences, self-defense, arrest techniques, firearms training with pistol, shotgun and rifle, police vehicle driving, and other Border Patrol / federal law enforcement subjects. After graduation they have 12-16 weeks of on the job training.

With all that is happening on our southern border at this time, you will not want to miss what Chris Harris has to tell about his first-hand experiences with Border Patrol and the wall.
Plan to attend, and bring a friend.

Our President is on his way to Vietnam today. By the time you are reading this we will know what progress he has made with North Korea. President Trump is a very smart guy. Using a country that we were at war with decades ago as an example of how good things can be is brilliant. Vietnam has shown the world what can be done with a second chance. The naysayers are predicting that nothing good will come of this summit. Wouldn't it be great if everyone was hopeful and actually working for the good of this country?

Our President has postponed his tariffs on China. Why? Because progress is being made and he is smart enough to know when to pull back and give negotiations a chance. Once again people are predicting that China is taking advantage of President Trump and nothing good will come from it. Wouldn't it be great if everyone was hopeful and actually working for the good of the country?

Once again, we hear that the Mueller investigation is almost complete. We have been hearing that for quite some time, but it appears that the end indeed is near. The prediction is that no collusion took place but that is not what Adam Schiff, democrat from the Senate, wants to hear. He plans to interrogate Mueller in front of Congress and have all of the details released to the world. With a microscope and the media behind the dems, they will dissect every testimony that was given and dwell on whatever they can use to continue the invasion on this Presidency. Wouldn't it be great if everyone was hopeful......and actually working for the good of this country instead of hating and undermining a duly elected President!

Your Sunshine Chairman is requesting that you keep her informed of any and all occasions that need to be acknowledged by a card. Such things as births, deaths, marriages, health issues, happy and sad, all deserve recognition. If I don't hear from you, someone who could use a bit of cheering up would be overlooked. Let's don't let that happen. Just drop me a line or email me.

Many thanks,
Dodie Bracken
