Luncheon Meeting

Thunderbird Country Club Ballroom
70-737 Country Club Dr
Rancho Mirage, CA
11AM Social - 11:30AM Meeting - Lunch at Noon

With Guest Speaker

Riverside County Sheriff
Stan Sniff Jr.

Sheriff Stan Sniff Jr. has served since 2007.  His region covers 7,300 square miles from the Colorado River west to Corona.  With an annual budget of over $535 million, and over 4,000 dedicated men and women cover this vast region of 58 fast growing counties.  The County Sheriff manages five correctional facilities, oversees countywide patrol operations, jail operations, court security, and coroner investigations.  It is the second largest Sheriff’s Department in the State of California.

The Sheriff’s department prevailed in a dispute with the unions regarding use of police body cameras; and the department now uses the credit card size camera devices.   Training has also begun on their newest fixed wing drone.  This 12-pound Unmanned Aerial Vehicle provides crystal clear pictures from 400 feet above ground, and could be used for search and rescue missions.  Thanks to Governor Jerry Brown and the liberal Democrats in Sacramento, California becomes a sanctuary state January 1, 2018.  The mission of the Office of Sheriff is to meet the mandates prescribed by California law, provide responsive, innovative and efficient public safety; while working in partnership with the community and our allied agencies. It will be of great interest to know how the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department will deal with the new regulations.

Stan is a lively and entertaining speaker and always appreciated by our members.  You are sure to learn something new about current Riverside County law enforcement.  Make your reservations now, and bring a friend.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Welcome to a New Year for the Rancho Mirage Republican Women Federated and the United States of America.

On a once in a lifetime trip to Israel in November we were greeted with open arms and the words "Welcome Home". I had no idea what the country of Israel and especially the city of Jerusalem had to offer. The history and ruins were overwhelming. The people were warm and genuinely love America and Americans. We were told that never in the history of the world has there been, such a close relationship, love really, between two countries.

Over the course of nine days our guides, very knowledgeable of the politics involved, stated that over the last eight years....the Obama years...the situation has become more difficult. Because of the Iran Agreement Israel's enemies are bolder and more determined than ever. It was also pointed out that "the New Administration" had not yet recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. One short week after we returned home, President Donald J. Trump did just that....declared Jerusalem the capital with plans to move the US Embassy there.

This decision was not made lightly and has been highly criticized by those on the left and some of our allies. Our president is not afraid to make a decision that might not please everyone, one that could be used against him in the Fake News, but, one that is long overdue.

Over the course of this first year in office, President Trump has proved his love for this country, his love for the people not the elites, his determination to do what is right and good for all instead of what makes the best headlines.

We the People are proud of this administration. Proud of promises kept and new laws to help and protect us. God Bless President Trump, God Bless America.

Mary Carter, President

SUNSHINE

Your Sunshine Chairman is requesting that you keep her informed of any and all occasions that need to be acknowledged by a card. Such things as births, deaths, marriages, health issues, happy and sad, all deserve recognition. If I don't hear from you, someone who could use a bit of cheering up would be overlooked. Let's don't let that happen. Just drop me a line or email me.

Many thanks,
Dodie Brocken

Supporting Our Troops for the Holidays

At our December holiday luncheon meeting, we had the pleasure of hosting and honoring 8 service members from the Marine, Army & Navy branches at 29 Palms Marine Base. Wal-Mart gift cards totaling over $4500 were given to the Director of the Armed Services YMCA. The Cards were distributed, at a Base holiday party, to the most needy service families. And our Toy Drive for the children of military families was a huge success. What a fun and heartwarming meeting! Thank you RMRWF members and friends for supporting such a worthy cause! It was my pleasure serving as the Liaison to the Troops for the past years.
